The School of Computer Science and Technology at Shandong University is an internationally established center for Computer Science research. It provides three graduate degree programs: Master of Science (MS), Master of Engineering (ME), and Ph.D. in Computer Science. Each year, approximately 15-20 and 40-50 new students join the Ph.D. and MS programs, respectively, and the number of ME students enrolled annually is circa 70. Over 80% of admitted students graduated from colleges and universities sponsored by Chinese 985 Project.

The school offers students an ideal environment for pursuing successful, interdisciplinary, research-driven studies. Teaching modules covering core areas of Computer Science enhance the students’ mathematical and technical understanding of the subject and improve their ability of theoretical reasoning and practical implementation. Internationality is one of the defining features of the school. Master’s students are offered a broad range of opportunities to participate in academic conferences and international exchange programs. The school has hosted 10 international academic conferences in the past five years, and in average, each graduate student participates in domestic or international conferences 2-3 times a year.

According to the statistics of graduates in the past five years, the majority of doctors enter universities and engage in the profession of teachers. Master graduates are mainly employed by well-known international IT enterprises, such as Microsoft, Google, Inspur, Baidu, Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent and so on. In recent years, the percentage of graduates, who later study abroad for a doctoral degree or become postdoctoral students, has basically remained at about 6%.
